The Roadmender and Other Writings by Michael Fairless ( the pseudonym of Margaret Fairless Barber) is hardback book with yellow cloth boards published by Collins in the United Kingdom in 1950. This is the first print of the new edition and features a biographical note by M. E. Dawson an introduction by Frederick Brereton with 27 beautiful original wood engravings illustrations by Lennox Paterson it has the dust jacket which is not price clipped. The jacket is a little tatty and has quite a number of small areas of damage tears etc.
Margaret Fairless Barber was a lifelong nature lover, a mystic and was also a trained nurse who worked in one of London’s worst slums the Jago where she was fearless in her nursing duties and known as the ‘fighting sister’. This edition contains the road mender. 'The Gathering of brother Hilarius’ and ‘the Grey Brethren’
