One of the designs by Graham Sutherland for the 1934 Harrods and Art in Industry 'Modern Art for the Table' exhibition. Foley China and Clarice Cliff were asked to produce a range of tableware for the exhibition and notable artists of the day including Laura Knight, Duncan Grant, Ben Nicholson and Barbara Hepworth, as well as Graham Sutherland, were invited to submit designs. Decorated with a transfer print of stars and squiggles it was hand-finished with green spots and a pink band. Although it appears to be in very good condition, it does have some tiny chips, as indicated with red arrows on the photos: One on the tip of the lip and two on the base rim.
